Position Summary:
The Vice President of Underwriting Sales plays a pivotal role in our organization, tasked with developing and expanding a comprehensive strategy that leverages our radio, digital, podcasting, live events, and social media platforms. This executive will lead our sales initiatives, drive revenue growth, and enhance the performance of our underwriting sales team. The VP will focus on providing clients with tailored advertising solutions that resonate with our public media audience.

Compensation:
The compensation for this position will range from $170,000 to $205,000 annually, in addition to commission opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement a detailed sales strategy that aligns with the organization's growth goals.
  • Guide, mentor, and expand a high-achieving sales team to surpass revenue objectives and deliver outstanding client service.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting professional development and collaborative knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the digital advertising landscape, identifying trends, challenges, and innovative opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams, including marketing, product development, and analytics, to ensure cohesive strategies and maximize revenue potential.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Oversee the daily execution of sales strategies, promotions, and operational decisions.
  • Develop, present, and execute sales forecasts and strategic plans.
  • Manage daily departmental activities, including pricing strategies and compliance oversight.
  • Lead efforts in revenue generation through underwriting, advertising, and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop staff through coaching, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in board meetings and provide updates on revenue progress to the Board of Trustees.

Required Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience is required. A minimum of 8-10 years in media sales and management is essential, along with supervisory experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of market trends and client needs.
  • Ability to prioritize underwriting sales across various media platforms.
  • Proficient in building and maintaining relationships with clients and partners.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of Tapscan, Media Audit, and Scarborough.
  • Familiarity with marketing principles related to radio, events, online media, and email outreach.
