Position Overview

The Senior Vice President, Director of Tax is responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to managing the tax needs of high net worth clients. This role demands a robust understanding of fiduciary accounting, investment management, and estate planning, along with a commitment to developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with clients, providing expert tax advice and guidance on complex tax matters involving trusts, estates, and high-value assets.
  • Lead the Tax Department, ensuring effective collaboration with Client Advisors to deliver timely tax projections, alerts, and comprehensive summaries.
  • Drive business development initiatives by fostering relationships with potential clients and referral sources, actively participating in networking events.
  • Supervise the preparation and review of tax returns for ultra-high net worth individuals, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and maintain tax models and strategies, producing insightful tax alerts and planning presentations.
  • Collaborate with external tax professionals and legal advisors to ensure the highest standards of service and compliance.
  • Oversee the production of brokerage 1099s and IRA forms, ensuring accuracy and adherence to current tax laws.
  • Conduct research on recent tax law changes and their implications for clients, including significant legislation such as the TCJA and Secure Act 2.0.
  • Ensure timely processing of tax returns and payments, working closely with the Tax Processing Administrator.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a Master's degree in Taxation or a JD is preferred.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with a Big Four accounting firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws related to trusts, individuals, and pass-through entities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with tax preparation software.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong focus on client service.
