The Senior Climate Finance Underwriter plays a pivotal role in advancing climate finance initiatives within the renewable energy sector. This position involves engaging with the origination team, clients, and credit risk management to effectively structure financial transactions, evaluate financial statements, model project cash flows, conduct thorough due diligence, assess credit risk, present findings to the credit committee, and ensure ongoing compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Relationship Manager to identify clients' financing requirements and design appropriate loan structures.
  • Lead discussions during the due diligence phase and prepare indicative term sheets for potential deals.
  • Evaluate project cash flows and compile credit memorandums for new credit applications.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders throughout the due diligence and loan documentation phases.
  • Review loan agreements, verify compliance, and monitor adherence to financial covenants.
  • Stay informed about lending policies and procedures, recognizing exceptions to credit policy.
  • Execute additional responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline; MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in commercial solar energy lending or project finance.
  • Formal credit training and at least three (3) years of underwriting experience in commercial banking.
  • A strong commitment to supporting socially responsible organizations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel for financial analysis and modeling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of functioning effectively within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work efficiently under pressure, and manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
