Position Overview
Vertiv is on the lookout for a skilled Automation Engineer to enhance our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the design, programming, and upkeep of automated systems that drive our manufacturing operations.

This position requires a blend of technical proficiency and project management capabilities to ensure that automation initiatives are executed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Design and Development:
- Investigate, conceptualize, and implement automation processes to optimize production workflows and assembly techniques.
- Program and adjust PLC logic for new machinery and carry out essential repairs.
- Program and instruct industrial robots for accuracy and consistency in operations.
- Establish and sustain vision systems for quality assurance and inspection.
- Define and document specifications for new automation technologies and systems.

Project Quoting and Planning:
- Generate quotes for automation projects and develop comprehensive project plans to guarantee successful execution.

Equipment Support and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with production equipment utilizing mechanical, pneumatic, electromechanical, and hydraulic expertise.
- Install, repair, and refurbish production-related machinery.

Preferred Skills - Tool and Die Expertise:
- Work from technical drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to design and fabricate dies, fixtures, and tooling.
- Operate conventional tool room machinery and have a fundamental understanding of CNC operations.
- Utilize precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy in tool and die fabrication.

Technical Mentorship:
- Provide guidance and instruction to less experienced team members to achieve performance standards in technical and safety areas.
- Suggest new or improved methods and equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Collaboration and Problem Resolution:
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address challenges.
- Adhere to quality and safety protocols, maintaining high standards for both.

General Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as required to support team objectives and meet production timelines.
Qualifications
- Proficient in PLC programming, robotics, and vision systems.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent project management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in designing and creating custom assembly aids and equipment.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Machine Tool and Die or Electromechanical Design, or a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in PLC programming or troubleshooting.
- 3-5 years of tool and die experience is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience with 3D CAD software.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Light manufacturing environment.
