Position Overview
You will take on the role of a Grants Administration Specialist within the Office of the Vice President for Research at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. This position is available to qualified individuals.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass a range of advanced tasks related to the oversight and management of grants awarded by the Uniformed Services University. These grants may vary from minor projects to intricate multi-site clinical studies.
You will act as the primary liaison for grants management inquiries, offering researchers essential information, support, and guidance throughout the proposal process. Your expertise will assist in crafting budget justifications, ensuring both precision and clarity, while recommending suitable phrasing when necessary.
Additionally, you will conduct thorough reviews and evaluations of all program proposals submitted by recipients of funding, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
You will also perform a secondary review of all actions associated with grants and research contract management carried out by junior specialists in grants administration.
Management and Policy Development
In this role, you will serve as a management analyst for Research Administration and Intramural Programs/Research Development. You will be responsible for formulating and executing policies, philosophies, and procedures aimed at the systematic evaluation and management of the program.
Regular audits of data stored in the grants administration database will be part of your duties, along with generating specialized reports as required.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or higher in federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience should include:
- Analyzing and developing grant proposals.
- Conducting comprehensive reviews to provide recommendations ensuring adherence to grant submission and administrative requirements.
Conditions of Employment
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet suitability requirements for federal employment. Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory.
It is essential to maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to commencing duties. Failure to obtain and sustain the required clearance may lead to withdrawal of the job offer.
