Position Summary:

The Grants Oversight Specialist will provide guidance on the management of the Technology Grant Portfolio, including the coordination of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. This role requires approximately fifteen hours of commitment per week, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Assistance: Support the development and assessment of the organization’s grant initiatives.
    • Assist in managing and coordinating the annual grant portfolio, offering administrative support for the review of grant submissions.
    • Evaluate annual grant progress reports and new applications for adherence to organizational policies and federal regulations.
    • Provide guidance on statutes, regulations, and policies related to grant awards.
  • Application Review: Aid in the evaluation of grant applications and responses.
    • Assess competing and non-competing grant applications for accuracy and completeness.
    • Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory standards, reporting any discrepancies.
    • Draft communications addressing administrative or management concerns regarding grant applications.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of reports to monitor the status of grants and funding.
    • Conduct financial reviews of grant applications.
    • Maintain a comprehensive database for grant activities.
    • Generate and edit various documents, including spreadsheets and reports.
  • Data Management: Perform queries and analyses to produce insightful reports.
    • Collect and analyze data from applications and proposals, crafting analytical reports.
    • Summarize results from queries of grant management systems.
  • Staff Support: Provide regular updates and support to team members.
    • Inform staff of potential issues that may delay grant awards.
    • Collaborate with Program Officers and Administrators to address inquiries.
    • Identify areas needing policy enhancements and contribute to the development of new procedures.
  • Final Processing: Identify grants ready for finalization.
    • Monitor the progress of grant applications and proposals.
    • Assist in pre- and post-award activities, including grant award preparations.
    • Compile documentation for grants selected for funding.
  • Documentation Review: Assemble and review completed documentation, identifying any outstanding issues.
    • Conduct advanced analyses of grant programs to enhance decision-making.
    • Resolve grant-related issues in collaboration with scientific and administrative personnel.
  • Procedure Development: Establish protocols for the grant review and approval process.
    • Consult with potential grantees to assist in their application submissions.
  • Product Development: Generate documents related to NINR Technology and SBIR/STTR portfolios, presenting funding recommendations to leadership.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in nursing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in grant management software.
  • Strong knowledge of grants policy, regulations, and scientific expertise.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
