Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Department Manager to join our team at the University of Washington. This is a key role that will be responsible for managing the Faculty Affairs and Human Resource activities of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Faculty Affairs and Human Resource activities of the Department of Ophthalmology, including faculty appointments, reappointments, reviews, and credentialing.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to faculty affairs and human resources, ensuring compliance with University, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to faculty and staff on HR-related matters, including recruitment, hiring, and employee relations.
  • Collaborate with the Vice Chair, Finance and Administration, and other departmental administrators to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage the recruitment and hiring process for classified and professional staff, including writing position descriptions, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Develop and implement employee recognition programs and other initiatives to promote employee engagement and motivation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six years' experience working in Human Resources, Academic Medicine, or a related field.
  • Ability to work with faculty, staff, and campus partners effectively.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using Workday.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interact with faculty appropriately and gain their confidence.
Desired Qualifications
  • HR/Faculty affairs work in Higher Education.
  • HR work supporting clinical department at the University of Washington, or in a School of Medicine.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar certification.
