Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the University of Washington as a Human Resources Department Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Faculty Affairs and Human Resource activities of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the recruitment and hiring process for faculty and staff, including writing position descriptions, advertising, and interviewing candidates.
  • Process new faculty appointments, including university approvals, advertising, recruitment, candidate interviews, hiring, and on-boarding.
  • Oversee and manage faculty compensation practices and protocols, including salary and benefits, and ensure compliance with university and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement new systems and processes in all areas of responsibility, including recruitment, appointment, employment relations, training, and orientation.
  • Partner with the School of Medicine to investigate and coordinate investigations of workplace complaints or grievances.
  • Ensure adequate records are developed and maintained to document particular faculty personnel actions and their resolution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years' experience working in Human Resources, Academic Medicine, or related fields.
  • Ability to work with faculty, staff, and campus partners effectively.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using Workday.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with faculty appropriately and gain their confidence.
Desired Qualifications
  • HR/Faculty affairs work in Higher Education.
  • HR work supporting clinical department at the University of Washington, or in a School of Medicine.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar certification.
