Human Resources Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources professional to join our team as a Faculty Affairs Manager. This is a key role that will provide strategic leadership and support to the Department of Ophthalmology in all aspects of faculty affairs, human resources, and academic staffing.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the faculty affairs and human resources activities of the Department of Ophthalmology, including faculty appointments, reappointments, and separations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to faculty affairs, human resources, and academic staffing.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to faculty, staff, and departmental administrators on HR-related matters.
- Collaborate with the Vice Chair, Finance and Administration, and other departmental leaders to develop and implement strategic plans for faculty affairs and human resources.
- Manage the recruitment and hiring process for faculty and staff positions, including developing job descriptions, advertising positions, and conducting interviews.
- Develop and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and departmental administrators to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with changing laws, regulations, and policies related to faculty affairs, human resources, and academic staffing.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- Minimum of six (6) years' experience working in Human Resources, Academic Medicine, or related fields.
- Ability to work with faculty, staff, and campus partners effectively.
- Technically proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience using Workday.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interact with faculty appropriately and gain their confidence.
- HR/Faculty affairs work in Higher Education, preferably supporting a clinical department at the University of Washington.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar certification.
