We are currently seeking experienced Senior Mechanical Engineers with expertise in thermal and fluid systems design. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of hardware systems that manage air and liquid flows. Your contributions will span from conceptualization to deployment and manufacturing, making this an ideal opportunity for engineers who thrive on solving complex, cross-disciplinary challenges through a blend of analytical and hands-on approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead brainstorming sessions to generate innovative solutions for enhancing the Linear Generator.
  • Design and optimize critical thermal subsystems to reduce costs, enhance performance, and ensure reliability.
  • Collaborate with reliability and testing teams to validate components and systems, facilitating rapid learning cycles for next-generation products.
  • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, new product introduction, and external suppliers to expedite the transition of new designs into production.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience, or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in designing air or liquid handling systems, with a strong foundation in thermo-fluid system design principles.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or a similar CAD software, with familiarity in PDM or equivalent version control systems preferred.
  • Experience in finite element analysis (structural, thermal, or fluid dynamics).
  • Knowledge of 1D or 3D thermal systems design simulation tools.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with suppliers to develop and qualify new components.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes, including sheet metal forming, machining, and plastics molding.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce and review design documentation, bills of materials, work instructions, and test plans.
  • Experience with GD&T is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated with a history of delivering functional product designs in fast-paced development environments.
  • Passion for creating innovative and cost-effective solutions to facilitate the large-scale deployment of zero-carbon energy technologies.

The compensation for this role is competitive, with a salary range reflective of the Bay Area market, along with pre-IPO stock options and comprehensive benefits.
