Key Responsibilities

We are in search of experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to contribute to the development of our high-voltage linear electromagnetic machine (LEM). Your role will encompass the design and enhancement of components and subsystems, ensuring their successful transition from concept to production.

  • Engage in collaborative brainstorming sessions to devise innovative solutions for the LEM and the broader Linear Generator.
  • Design and refine critical mechanical and electromechanical subsystems, focusing on cost reduction, performance enhancement, and reliability. This includes systems such as magnetic encoders, high-voltage wiring, precision components, and composite materials.
  • Work alongside reliability and testing teams to validate designs, facilitating rapid learning cycles for future iterations of our Linear Generators.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and external suppliers to expedite the production of new designs.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, with the following experience requirements:
  • BS with 6 years of relevant industry experience or MS with 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient understanding of manufacturing processes including metal casting, machining, and fabrication, with the ability to address design for manufacturability challenges.
  • Experience in the volume manufacturing of electric motors or generators is preferred, covering aspects such as quality design, inspection methods, and magnetic material handling.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or a comparable CAD software, with experience in PDM or similar version control systems being advantageous.
  • A passion for developing innovative and cost-effective solutions to promote large-scale deployment of zero-carbon energy technologies.
