About the team + role:

At Robinhood, our Detection and Response Team embodies our dedication to 'Safety First'. This team is focused on developing and managing services that prioritize the security and privacy of our customers. We specialize in detection engineering, automation, and incident management. Our goal? To swiftly identify and assess threats, conduct thorough data analysis, and mitigate malicious activities.

What you'll do day-to-day:
  • Automation: Optimize manual response processes to reduce engineering workload and improve our response efficiency.
  • Threat Detection: Create advanced detection mechanisms to identify potential security threats, leveraging insights into attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Incident Management: Act as the lead incident commander, overseeing incident analysis and communicating potential risks and remediation strategies.
  • Collaborative Exercises: Collaborate with our Threat Intelligence and Offensive Security teams to conduct purple team drills, identifying and addressing our security weaknesses.
What you bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in security operations, threat detection, incident response, or related domains.
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sharp focus on objectively assessing security risks.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and/or other cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Expertise in developing detections from a wide range of log sources.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.

The anticipated salary range for this position is determined by the location where the work will be performed and aligns with one of three compensation zones. This role is also eligible for participation in a bonus plan and equity plan.

Base compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands.
