Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team in the Propulsion Plant Planning Yard. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for analyzing and developing structural engineering specifications for product design and operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and develop structural engineering specifications for product design and operation
  • Perform complex dynamic structural analyses utilizing finite element analysis (FEA) methods
  • Develop engineering calculation reports and check structural analyses reports
  • Train junior level engineers on the use of engineering software
  • Develop and review customer submittal letters
  • Support the development and/or resolution of ship alterations (ShipAlts) processes
  • Evaluate/analyze lifting and handling plans for Steam & Electric Plant equipment removal/installation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Significant experience managing projects and problem-solving skills related to the construction and maintenance of the Ford Class Steam & Electric Plant structure
  • High level understanding in structural dynamics and stress analysis processes
  • Experience with checking TAs and training junior engineers
