About the Role

This position is for a senior-level structural engineer in the A4W Reactor Plant Planning Yard, supporting the maintenance, overhaul, and modernization of CVN68 Class aircraft carriers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design or operation.
  • Research and analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling.
  • Develop and review shock test procedures, oversee shock testing, and develop written shock qualification documentation.
  • Oversee the technical and project management of multiple simultaneous shock qualification efforts.
  • Experience with static and dynamic analysis of steel structures and foundations, as well as naval shock and vibration analysis requirements.
  • Develop and review foundation and structural drawings, and evaluate bolted joints and fasteners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 9 years of relevant exempt experience, or Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience, or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
