Overview:
HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to contribute to the innovative development of advanced naval vessels. As a pivotal member of the Submarine Engineering Advanced Capabilities team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of the U.S. Navy's premier attack submarine platform.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee multiple engineering projects, providing mentorship and direction to junior engineers.
- Conduct thorough analysis and research to develop structural engineering specifications for various materials, including metals and composites.
- Evaluate damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling, focusing on dynamics, loads, stability, and thermal analysis.
- Utilize advanced software tools such as CATIA, IDEAS, and ProEngineer to support design and analysis efforts.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program, with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with 7 years of experience; or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.
- Strong understanding of submarine engineering principles and design requirements.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to integrate various ship systems.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in technical writing.

Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with software applications such as FEMAP, Abaqus, and MatLab.
- Experience in structural design and analysis within a naval engineering context.
