Commercial Construction SuperintendentJob Overview:

The Superintendent oversees the workflow of construction projects on-site, ensuring alignment with project timelines and HITT's safety and quality benchmarks. This role entails providing direction and acting as the primary point of contact among project team members, advocating for both business and client interests while exemplifying the qualities of a mid-level leader. The Superintendent articulates project priorities to site personnel and subcontractors, serving as the principal authority on-site for the construction initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and uphold the HITT safety program, ensuring all subcontractors comply, promptly reporting and investigating incidents, and assisting with safety audits by external agencies.
  • Maintain HITT's quality standards across all project facets.
  • Lead on-site safety initiatives, ensuring a secure work environment for all personnel.
  • Document daily activities and site conditions, managing the punch list and closeout procedures through owner and architect acceptance.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop the project schedule, ensuring adherence to installation methods and timelines while upholding HITT's quality standards.
  • Foster positive relationships with all subcontractors, building community connections that enhance business opportunities while ensuring fair treatment.
  • Ensure accurate daily documentation of work orders and tickets, comprehending subcontractor scopes to prevent unnecessary change orders, and proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Organize and manage the site team, coordinating temporary facilities and utilities, and expediting long lead items.
  • Work closely with the project manager and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution in construction, engineering, or business is highly preferred.
  • In the absence of a degree, relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a commercial general contractor.
  • Experience with tenant renovations, service work, and fast-paced projects is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of building processes and industry best practices.
  • Ability to coordinate necessary resources, including personnel, tools, and time, to meet tight deadlines and achieve project goals.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or project lead role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
  • OSHA 30 Certification is preferred.
  • Physical capability to walk or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Communicate effectively and professionally, with a focus on appropriate business writing and verbal skills.
    • Exhibit a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the construction industry.
    • Analyze data, interpret it meaningfully, and communicate findings clearly.
    • Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently.
    • Consistently uphold integrity aligned with HITT's core values.
    • Pursue continuous improvement in knowledge and skills.
    • Adapt to the evolving landscape of technology and construction methods.
    • Collaborate with diverse individuals and styles.

In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the base salary range for this position is:

$99,000 - $150,700.00

Compensation may vary in other locations. HITT Contracting offers a comprehensive benefits package, including performance-based bonuses, premium health care coverage (including vision and dental), employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement programs, paid holidays, and various voluntary benefits.
