Commercial Construction SuperintendentPosition Overview:

The Superintendent oversees the on-site workflow of construction projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and HITT's safety and quality benchmarks. This role involves providing leadership and acting as the primary liaison among project team members, advocating for both business and client interests while exemplifying mid-level leadership qualities. The Superintendent is responsible for communicating project priorities to site personnel and subcontractors, taking charge of the construction site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and enforce the HITT safety program across all subcontractors, ensuring prompt reporting and investigation of incidents, and facilitating safety inspections by external agencies.
  • Uphold HITT's quality standards throughout all project phases.
  • Act as the on-site safety leader, ensuring a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities and site conditions, manage the punch list, and oversee the closeout process until owner/architect acceptance.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop the project schedule, ensuring compliance with installation methods and sequences, fulfilling schedule commitments, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Foster positive working relationships with all subcontractors, enhancing community connections to create business opportunities while ensuring fair treatment.
  • Ensure accurate daily documentation of work orders and tickets, comprehending subcontractor scopes to minimize change orders, and proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Organize and lead the site team, arranging for necessary temporary facilities and utilities, and expediting long lead items.
  • Work closely with the project manager and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business from an accredited institution is highly preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for a degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial construction, particularly with a commercial general contractor.
  • Experience with tenant renovations, service work, and fast-paced projects is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building processes and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to organize resources effectively, including personnel, tools, and time, to meet tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a superintendent or project lead role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
  • OSHA 30 Certification is preferred.
  • Physical ability to walk or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on professional and audience-appropriate interactions.
  • A positive attitude and passion for the construction industry.
  • Ability to analyze data, translate it into actionable insights, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Commitment to integrity and alignment with HITT's core values.
  • Willingness to pursue continuous improvement and adapt to evolving technologies and methods.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and maintain professional relationships.
