Commercial Construction SuperintendentJob Overview:

The Superintendent oversees the on-site workflow of construction projects, ensuring alignment with the project timeline and HITT's safety and quality protocols. This role involves providing leadership and acting as the primary point of contact among project team members, advocating for both business and client interests while exemplifying the traits of a mid-level leader. The Superintendent communicates project priorities to site personnel and subcontractors, taking charge of the construction site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and uphold the HITT safety program across all subcontractors, ensuring timely reporting and investigation of all incidents, and assisting with safety inspections by external agencies.
  • Maintain HITT's quality standards throughout all project phases.
  • Lead on-site safety initiatives, ensuring a secure work environment for all personnel.
  • Document daily activities and site conditions, manage the punch list, and facilitate the closeout process through owner and architect acceptance.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop the project schedule, ensuring adherence to installation methods and sequences, fulfilling schedule commitments, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Foster positive working relationships with all subcontractors, enhancing community ties to create business opportunities while ensuring fair treatment.
  • Ensure accurate daily documentation of work orders and tickets, comprehend subcontractor scopes to prevent unnecessary change orders, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Organize the site team, arrange for temporary facilities and utilities, and expedite long lead items as necessary.
  • Work closely with the project manager and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
  • A four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly with a general contractor.
  • Experience with tenant renovations, service work, and projects in occupied spaces is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of building processes and industry best practices.
  • Ability to effectively organize resources, including personnel, tools, and time, to meet tight deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Preferred experience as a project lead or superintendent.
  • Proficiency in sector-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
  • OSHA 30 Certification is preferred.
  • Physical capability to walk or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Communicate clearly and professionally, with a focus on effective business writing and verbal skills.
    • Exhibit a positive attitude and passion for the construction industry.
    • Analyze data, interpret it meaningfully, and communicate insights effectively.
    • Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently.
    • Consistently demonstrate integrity aligned with HITT's core values.
    • Pursue continuous improvement in knowledge and skills.
    • Adapt to evolving technology, design, and methods.
    • Collaborate with diverse individuals and maintain professional relationships.
