Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Lead Scientist in Oncology Pharmacokinetics to join our PK Sciences team at Novartis. This role is essential in shaping and executing DMPK and clinical pharmacology strategies that drive the development of groundbreaking therapies from initial discovery stages through to advanced clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the PK Sciences representative within project teams, engaging with various stakeholders and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Formulate the pharmacokinetic strategy for lead optimization and supervise nonclinical studies to identify compounds with advantageous DMPK characteristics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deepen the understanding of PK/PD relationships and devise effective dosing strategies.
  • Design and implement clinical pharmacology strategies, contributing to both nonclinical and clinical study designs, while analyzing PK and PK/PD data to facilitate compound development.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including pharmacokinetic and clinical pharmacology sections for regulatory submissions and respond to inquiries from health authorities globally.

This position reports to the head of the PK Sciences Oncology group within Translational Medicine, a vital part of our Biomedical Research division. The PK Sciences team is comprised of approximately 300 professionals dedicated to advancing innovative therapies and ensuring their successful transition from research to clinical application.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Pharm.D. with relevant expertise in clinical pharmacology, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetics.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in drug discovery or development in relevant settings such as academia, CROs, biotech, or pharmaceutical companies.
  • At least 4 years of experience is required for the Senior Principal Scientist level, including 2 years in a leadership role overseeing ADME/DMPK project strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, and PK/PD evaluation, with experience in global project teams and an understanding of recent advancements in drug development and regulatory science.
  • Proven success in a collaborative, matrixed project team environment with strong communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with drug conjugates or radiopharmaceuticals is advantageous.
