Lead Scientist, Oncology Research

The Oncology Translational Research (OTR) team at Novartis is in search of a dedicated and skilled individual to take on the role of lab head, focusing on the exploration of mechanisms behind the effectiveness and resistance to innovative cancer treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize preclinical methodologies and clinical samples to investigate resistance mechanisms associated with novel therapies.
- Design and implement translational studies, including screenings for new targets and evaluating new drug combinations to address resistance.
- Lead a research team and foster collaborations with various groups within Novartis oncology.
- Oversee, mentor, and train junior team members.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, cancer biology, or related disciplines.
- Postdoctoral experience or a minimum of three years in academia or industry for Principal Scientist I; Postdoctoral experience plus two years of industry experience for Principal Scientist II.
- Exceptional creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for scientific collaboration and teamwork.
- Positive demeanor, scientific curiosity, and commitment.
- In-depth knowledge of cancer cell biology and familiarity with advanced cell and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience in analyzing responses and resistance to small molecule, biologic, or immune oncology therapies.
- A desire to collaboratively manage a research team and scientific projects, along with the ability to communicate scientific findings effectively.
- Proficiency in data analysis and computational skills.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is between $112,800 and $169,200 annually. The total compensation package may also include additional elements such as a sign-on bonus, stock options, and discretionary awards, along with a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
