Our research and development efforts at Vaxess are interdisciplinary, merging biology, chemistry, immunology, materials science, and engineering to tackle significant unmet medical needs in the fields of vaccines and therapeutics. We are in search of a skilled, collaborative, and highly motivated professional with a strong background in animal models, pharmacology, and immunology to join our dedicated team of scientists and engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of immunogenicity and pharmacokinetic studies, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders throughout the process. Support the design of IND-enabling safety and efficacy studies.
  • Oversee direct reports within the preclinical group, organizing personnel and essential resources to ensure successful study outcomes. Provide hands-on support and cross-training as necessary.
  • Manage external animal studies conducted at CROs, ensuring proper transfer of materials and protocols.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in research and early development, defining critical questions for platform animal model and device development.
  • Present findings in both internal and external meetings and lead the writing of scientific reports.
  • Develop or enhance organizational tools to compile in vivo study endpoints for team-wide visibility.
  • Ensure compliance with IACUC regulations and facilitate training and credentialing for new team members.

Qualifications

  • PhD with 1-3 years of relevant experience or BS/MS with a minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacology, biology, or a related field within the biotech or pharmaceutical sector.
  • Proven experience in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) study design and analysis is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with various rodent models, including mice and rats, as well as experience managing or conducting large animal studies in swine or non-human primates.
  • Proficient in interpreting clinical signs and basic animal health screening data.
  • Experience in training junior staff on various administration and blood sampling techniques.
  • Familiarity with IACUC review and approval processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dedicated to working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary, cross-functional team.
