Team Overview:

The Global Business Selling team, part of eBay's Global Markets organization, plays a crucial role in assisting sellers to establish and expand their businesses on our platform. We deliver a compelling value proposition that attracts new sellers and retains existing ones, ranging from small entrepreneurs to large global brands.

We collaborate with various teams across the organization to advance our strategic objectives, fulfill our commitments, and ensure sellers feel confident in their success, profitability, and security on our marketplace.

Our team embodies a dual mindset: as strategic leaders, we possess a profound understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces and how to unlock value through the success of our business sellers. Simultaneously, we are hands-on operators, ready to engage directly with the challenges at hand.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives for the Global Business Selling team. This role will report to the head of Global Business and US Consumer Seller Strategy.

The successful candidate will spearhead multiple initiatives, with an immediate focus on enhancing seller sentiment and designing the optimal value proposition for our sellers.

This position is designed to adapt over time in response to the evolving needs of our sellers and business priorities, making it ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, project-driven environments.

You will gain functional, market, and vertical expertise through extensive collaboration with related teams, maintaining a comprehensive business perspective throughout your work.


Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:

Identify seller needs that drive favorability and align with market dynamics, establishing clear priorities to address these needs. Understand eBay's strategic and competitive positioning to advocate for necessary changes and enhance our seller engagement.


Roadmap Execution:

Influence the development of our roadmap and support the successful delivery of outcomes across product, marketing, trust, regulatory, and seller operations. Cultivate support and momentum among internal partners.


Market Strategy:

Collaborate on go-to-market strategies that reinforce our value proposition, enhance awareness, and drive adoption, working closely with product, product marketing, channels, operations, and legal teams.


Performance Management:

Define and oversee reporting against key performance indicators for initiatives under your purview.


Candidate Profile:

Strategic Thinker and Operator: You excel at translating enterprise goals and seller needs into actionable priorities, inspiring and influencing key partners across the organization.

You possess a strong inclination towards data-driven decision-making, with comfort in both qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches to derive actionable insights.

A structured thinker, you can deconstruct ambiguous challenges into concrete solutions and actionable plans.

Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) enable you to adapt your message to diverse audiences and objectives.

You are an autonomous driver of progress while keeping leadership and partners engaged and informed.


Qualifications:

8+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or a strategic role in a major corporation.

Experience managing end-to-end ecommerce processes and utilizing metrics such as NPS, conversion funnels, and financial outcomes.

A Bachelor’s degree is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

An MBA or similar advanced degree.

A passion for marketplace selling is advantageous.


Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required as needed.
