Position Overview:

Lead and support initiatives to ensure a safe working environment, provide direct assistance for production and maintenance, and gather and report environmental data.

Key Relationships:

Reports to the Senior Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety programs
  • Assist Production and Maintenance teams with safety management
  • Offer safety expertise and solutions to managers and projects for addressing known or potential issues
  • Deliver safety training and tools to enhance safety performance in core processes
  • Communicate safety performance metrics on a regular basis
  • Review all recordable incidents and guide root cause analysis, corrective, and preventive actions across departments
  • Provide support for ISO14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
  • Promote safety awareness through various communication channels
  • Manage initiatives aimed at zero waste and control processes
  • Assist in managing and maintaining records for Health & Safety qualifications, programs, and compliance
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations while performing duties
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Physical Requirements:

Capable of moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Regularly operates and inspects manufacturing equipment manually. Must be able to stand for extended periods, potentially up to 12 hours. May require vision correction to 20/20 or 20/25 depending on the role. Occasionally ascends and descends ladders and may work at elevated heights. May be exposed to odorous or hazardous materials and may need to wear protective gear. May perform critical functions in extremely cold environments as necessary. Ability to work in noisy settings with hearing protection may be required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred
  • At least one year of experience in a safety-related environment is required
  • Experience in construction and expansion projects is preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations is required
  • Proficient in root cause analysis for accident investigation is preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and 14001 is advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience in emergency management and planning is a plus
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred
  • Strong communication and writing skills are essential
  • Ability to develop and manage action plans to meet targets is required
  • Willingness to work Monday through Thursday on a 10-hour day shift
