Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Service Technician to join our team in Durham, NC. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain laboratory instruments, including GC, GC-MS, auto samplers, HPLC, LC, and evacuation pumps
  • Diagnose malfunctions and technical problems, and determine effective solutions
  • Disassemble and reassemble instrumentation to repair and replace worn or malfunctioning components and consumables
  • Assist with the implementation of new technologies and techniques within the laboratory
  • Update and maintain instruments according to manufacturer specifications and maintain records as required
  • Provide technical guidance and decision-making support for management regarding capital asset purchases
  • Collaborate with department Group Leaders to ensure preventative maintenance is performed at the appropriate times
  • Oversee and assist with the modification of existing systems in the laboratories to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Develop and implement new processes and procedures to enhance laboratory operations
  • Comply with Enthalpy's Quality Assurance Program and Health and Safety Plan
Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a certified trade school degree related to Electronics, Electrical Systems, Automotive Systems Technology, or Manufacturing from an accredited university, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2+ years of experience working on or with laboratory instruments, or a certified electrician
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities
