Position Overview:

The Environmental Compliance Specialist is a critical role within the PowerSecure team, focusing on ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and permit requirements across various media. This position is essential for the PowerSecure Service Organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee compliance programs related to environmental laws and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance status for new and existing permits, focusing on RCRA, Used Oil, SPCC, DOT Hazmat, Tier II, and Waste Vendor Audit Programs.
  • Develop compliance strategies to address challenges across multiple facilities.
  • Conduct internal assessments and maintain SPCC plans.
  • Interpret regulations concerning petroleum tanks and provide compliance guidance across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Assess compliance risks, costs, and schedules for potential projects.
  • Interface with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and prepare necessary permit applications and compliance reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental permitting or compliance, with a focus on multi-media regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or energy sectors is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in writing and submitting permit applications with minimal guidance.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely application submissions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of the environmental permitting process and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with RCRA and other waste management programs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Essential Functions:
  • Administer environmental permitting for engine-generator services across various locations.
  • Coordinate multiple projects to ensure timely application submissions.
  • Review regulatory requirements and complete necessary permit applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather required documentation for applications.
  • Maintain compliance for sites requiring regular inspections.
  • Support marketing and proposal initiatives as needed.
Work Environment:

This role may involve office or remote work, with some travel required to meet with regulatory agencies and for environmental training and assessments.
