Environmental Laboratory Support Specialist

At Montrose, we are committed to ensuring the health of communities and the environment. We are looking for a dedicated Laboratory Support Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will tackle the challenges of responding to environmental incidents and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide rapid response to environmental emergencies 24/7 following comprehensive training
- Assist in environmental assessments with air quality monitoring and other tasks
- Maintain precise records utilizing our data management systems
- Conduct sample collection and laboratory preparation activities
- Organize and manage laboratory documentation and assist with various lab functions
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and safety protocols
- Travel nationally to engage in significant projects

Job Type: Part-time/temporary position with flexible hours
Compensation:
- Project Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour
- Limited Project Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour
- Training Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour or local minimum wage
- Opportunities for overtime at enhanced pay rates
Required Skills:
- Ability to work independently with strong communication skills
- Proficiency in English
- Detail-oriented with the capability to handle chemicals safely
- Basic understanding of laboratory practices and safety measures
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Computer proficiency in a Windows environment
- Experience with industrial hygiene tools is advantageous
- Training in emergency response or related fields is preferred
Certifications:
- Valid driver's license is necessary
- Must be able to pass physical examinations and safety certifications
- HAZWOPER and OSHA training certifications are required
Physical Demands:
Frequent Requirements: Sitting, standing, lifting, bending, and working long hours.
Occasional Requirements: Driving, extended shifts, and wearing protective gear.
Environmental Exposure:
Frequent: Outdoor work, physical hazards, and varying shifts.
Occasional: High altitude and work on water or air.
