Position Summary:

The Safety Compliance Specialist is tasked with overseeing the adherence to safety protocols and regulations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety standards while supporting the implementation of company-wide safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections throughout the facility, ensuring the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any safety violations to management for immediate corrective action.
  • Facilitate safety training sessions for team members, covering essential topics such as Safety 101 and Environmental Safety.
  • Assist in the investigation of safety incidents and gather relevant information to support thorough analysis.
  • Serve as the primary contact for onsite medical staff during emergencies, ensuring effective communication regarding clinic operations and first aid support.
  • Act as a first responder to safety-related incidents on the manufacturing floor, coordinating with security and management for emergency response.
  • Identify and document potential hazards within the facility, providing recommendations for corrective measures and conducting follow-up assessments.
  • Support the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team with training, spill response, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel to other facilities or vendors may be required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate on-shift support for EHS programs aimed at minimizing accident risks.
  • Build effective relationships with team members and leadership to promote a culture of safety.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives related to safety practices.
  • Meet established deadlines for safety programs and initiatives.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from team members and leaders regarding safety matters.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of safety incidents and communicate findings to management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience in a safety-related role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. OSHA-30 certification and CPR/First Aid/AED certification are preferred.
  • Three years of practical experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety within a large manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Experience in achieving measurable results in a lean manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with safety inspections, including radiation equipment, crane operations, and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to hazard identification.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules as needed.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels of safety knowledge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
