Job Overview:
We are currently seeking dedicated individuals for the role of EVS Housekeeper within our Environmental Services department. This is a full-time position with shifts scheduled from Monday to Friday, typically from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with occasional weekend availability required.
Role Summary:
The EVS Housekeeper will operate under the guidance of the Facilities Manager and the EVS Supervisor, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation across various designated areas, including patient rooms, restrooms, administrative offices, and other facility locations as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain adequate housekeeping supplies in accordance with established inventory levels.
- Perform floor care tasks including cleaning, buffing, scrubbing, and waxing.
- Conduct regular trash collection and disposal.
- Execute terminal cleaning procedures daily in compliance with hospital policies.
- Demonstrate effective decontamination practices for clinical areas, equipment, and reusable supplies as per hospital guidelines.
- Provide suggestions for improvements to existing policies and procedures when necessary.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and organized environment while adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
- Wear appropriate attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) in restricted areas.
- Follow standard precautions for handling biohazardous materials and using PPE.
- Keep janitorial closets organized and free from hazards.
- Display safety signage to maintain a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Report any chemical spills immediately and understand the protocols for exposure.
- Ensure chemicals are utilized, stored, and maintained safely according to manufacturer recommendations, reporting any hazardous conditions promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness in patient environments consistently using standard cleaning procedures.
- Identify potential risks to patients and take necessary actions to mitigate them, including reporting incidents and common issues.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, particularly those related to conduct, compliance, diversity, and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of bending, sitting, squatting, crawling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. The role requires standing for extended periods and exerting force up to 50 lbs for pushing and pulling tasks.
Education & Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in Environmental Services or housekeeping within a healthcare or surgical environment.
