Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Service Technician to join our team in Durham, NC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments, as well as implementing new technologies and techniques within the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain laboratory instruments, including electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctions and technical problems, and determine proper solutions
  • Disassemble and reassemble instrumentation to repair and replace worn or malfunctioning components and consumables
  • Assist with the implementation of existing and new technologies and techniques within the laboratory
  • Update and maintain instruments per manufacturer specifications and keep records as required
  • Provide direction and technical decision-making for management involving capital asset purchases
  • Work with department Group Leaders to ensure all preventative maintenance is performed at the appropriate times
  • Oversee and assist with the modification of existing systems in the laboratories to make them more efficient and/or effective, along with the development and implementation of new processes and procedures
Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a certified trade school degree related to Electronics, Electrical Systems, Automotive Systems Technology, or Manufacturing from an accredited university, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2+ years of experience working on or with: GC, GC-MS, auto samplers, HPLC, LC, and evacuation pumps or a certified electrician
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities
