Job Summary:

Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager and EVS Supervisor, the Environmental Services Technician is tasked with maintaining cleanliness across various designated areas, including patient rooms, restrooms, administrative offices, and other facility spaces as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure daily stocking of housekeeping supplies in accordance with established PAR levels.
  2. Perform floor care duties including cleaning, buffing, scrubbing, and waxing.
  3. Conduct regular trash collection and disposal.
  4. Execute thorough terminal cleaning as per hospital policies and procedures.
  5. Implement proper decontamination protocols for clinical areas, equipment, and non-disposable supplies.
  6. Propose necessary updates to existing policies and procedures when appropriate.
  7. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
  8. Wear appropriate attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) in restricted areas.
  9. Follow standard precautions and safe practices when handling biohazardous materials.
  10. Keep janitorial closets organized and clean to prevent hazards.
  11. Display appropriate safety signage to ensure a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  12. Report any chemical spills to management immediately and understand procedures for exposure incidents.
  13. Ensure chemicals are used, stored, and maintained safely according to manufacturer guidelines.
  14. Maintain cleanliness in patient environments consistently using standard cleaning procedures.
  15. Identify potential risks to patients and take actions to mitigate them; report incidents as necessary.
  16. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including guidelines for conduct, compliance, diversity, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to bend, sit, squat, crawl, reach, lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and exert force of up to 50 lbs for pushing and pulling tasks.

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Environmental Services or housekeeping within an ambulatory or surgical setting is necessary.

COVID-19 Precautions:

Compliance with mandatory vaccinations, face mask usage, social distancing, patient testing, visitor restrictions, and terminal cleaning protocols is required.
