Position Overview:

The Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance will lead the enhancement and management of our comprehensive quality initiatives across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with the highest industry benchmarks and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will have a robust background in Quality Assurance/Quality Control, process optimization, and regulatory adherence, particularly in the food, beverage, flavor, or nutritional industries.


Core Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Leadership and Strategy:
Direct and oversee quality initiatives across various sites, including QA and QC, while supporting process optimization.
Encourage a quality-focused culture throughout the organization, mentoring and developing a high-caliber quality team.
Champion continuous improvement efforts aimed at education, food safety, and first-time quality principles.

Provide strategic insight and direction on quality and compliance issues to the executive leadership team, influencing the overall strategic goals of the organization.


Compliance Management:
Guarantee adherence to FDA regulations concerning food safety, labeling, flavors, and dietary supplements.
Maintain certifications from USDA and organic standards.
Supervise the implementation and upkeep of SQF & BRC (GFSI) and HACCP programs.
Ensure compliance with RFA & FT standards.

Manage interactions with regulatory agencies and industry groups, proactively addressing changes in laws and standards that may affect the company’s products or operations.


Laboratory Oversight:
Manage laboratory functions, including LIMS, HPLC, GC MS, wet chemistry analyses, and product sample oversight.
Collaborate with external laboratories for pathogen testing, nutritional assessments, and environmental quality testing.

ERP System Leadership:
Guide ERP system implementation projects to enhance quality and compliance processes across the organization.

Product Development:
Facilitate rapid market entry initiatives through effective material assessment, supplier validation, product design, and specification development.

Audit and Compliance Oversight:
Conduct and supervise internal, supplier, customer, and regulatory audits (FDA, Organic, SQF & BRC).
Efficiently manage and resolve product recall situations.

Oversee audit management, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while identifying areas for process enhancement.


Continuous Improvement and Analytical Problem Solving:
Lead the resolution of complaints (CAPA) and perform root cause investigations.
Implement cost-reduction strategies and promote ongoing quality enhancements through data-driven analysis.

Establish and nurture a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement, including the adoption of innovative quality assurance methodologies.

Collaborate with R&D, production, and supply chain teams to embed quality and compliance considerations into product development and manufacturing workflows.

Lead responses to quality or compliance challenges, including product recalls, regulatory inquiries, and customer feedback, ensuring prompt and transparent communication with all stakeholders.

Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master's degree in a relevant field or an MBA is preferred.
A minimum of 10-15 years in a senior leadership role within the food, beverage, flavor, or nutritional sectors.
Demonstrated experience in managing multi-site operations and corporate quality functions.
Extensive background in customer engagement and product recall management.
Proven success in implementing and overseeing a Quality Management System (QMS) in a manufacturing context.

Certifications:
SQF Practitioner

PCQI

HACCP
Halal, Rainforest Alliance, and Fairtrade certifications are preferred.
