POSITION TITLE: Vice President of Government Affairs

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Government Affairs is responsible for overseeing all facets of the government relations program for the Orlando Economic Partnership (the Partnership). This role is pivotal in steering the Partnership's advocacy and public policy initiatives while effectively representing the organization within the community.

The Orlando Economic Partnership serves as the economic and community development entity for the Orlando region, dedicated to fostering Broad-based Prosperity by enhancing economic diversity and attracting investment to the area. The Partnership promotes collaboration across the region to strengthen leadership and enhance competitiveness.

This is a full-time management position that reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Regional Investment, encompassing the following key responsibilities:

Advocacy and Representation: The Vice President must act as a vital resource for Partnership stakeholders, including investors and community leaders. This includes maintaining ongoing communication with state and federal policymakers regarding the Partnership's legislative priorities. Responsibilities include:

  1. Participating in meetings with local government bodies and maintaining connections with city and county staff.
  2. Collaborating on economic development workshops with government leaders.
  3. Building relationships with transportation authorities and relevant agencies.
  4. Engaging with Central Florida delegation members and their teams.
  5. Providing timely updates, reports, and communications to elevate awareness of policy matters.

Policy Research and Analysis: The Vice President will analyze state and federal public policy issues that affect Partnership stakeholders and the broader region.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing the creation of the Partnership's public policy agenda.
  2. Monitoring and evaluating public policy issues that influence Broad-based Prosperity.
  3. Researching pending legislation and emerging topics relevant to the business community.
  4. Staying informed about the Partnership's mission and services.

Communication and Reporting: The Vice President will maintain active communication with the Board of Directors, investors, and media as necessary.

Specific duties include:

  1. Coordinating legislative updates for stakeholders.
  2. Providing status reports to the Board of Directors as needed.
  3. Engaging with relevant associations and business coalitions.

Event Coordination: The Vice President will plan and coordinate the Partnership's involvement in legislative trips to Tallahassee or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading program planning in collaboration with the events team.
  2. Preparing materials such as agendas and speaking notes.
  3. Organizing schedules and appointments with key legislators and their staff.

Support for Executive Leadership: This role includes providing research and communication support to the CEO, ensuring they are informed of potential issues and prepared for public engagements.

Management of Lobbying Activities: The Vice President will oversee contracted lobbyists, ensuring effective execution of their responsibilities and priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES:
