POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Government Affairs is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive government affairs strategy for the Orlando Economic Partnership (the Partnership). This pivotal role involves steering the Partnership's advocacy and public policy initiatives while effectively engaging with the community.

The Orlando Economic Partnership serves as the economic and community development organization for the Orlando region, dedicated to fostering Broad-based Prosperity by enhancing economic diversity and attracting investment. The Partnership embodies a collaborative spirit to enhance regional leadership and bolster competitiveness.

This is a full-time management position reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Regional Investment, encompassing the following key responsibilities:

Advocacy and Representation: The Vice President will represent the interests of the Orlando Economic Partnership to local, state, and federal officials. This role requires being a reliable resource for Partnership stakeholders, maintaining relationships with public policy officials, and attending relevant legislative sessions and hearings.

  1. Participate in meetings with local government bodies and maintain connections with City and County staff.
  2. Collaborate on economic development workshops with governmental leaders.
  3. Strengthen relationships with transportation authorities and relevant agencies.
  4. Engage with Central Florida delegation members and their teams.
  5. Provide timely updates and communications to raise awareness of key policy issues.

Policy Research and Analysis: The Vice President will research and evaluate state and federal public policy issues that affect Partnership stakeholders and the broader region.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Oversee the formulation of the Partnership's public policy agenda.
  2. Monitor and assess public policy developments impacting Broad-based Prosperity.
  3. Analyze pending legislation and emerging issues relevant to the business community.
  4. Stay informed about the Partnership's mission and initiatives.

Communication and Reporting: The Vice President will maintain open lines of communication with the Board of Directors, stakeholders, and media as needed.

Specific Duties Include:

  1. Coordinate legislative updates for stakeholders.
  2. Provide status reports to the Board of Directors as required.
  3. Engage with relevant associations and business coalitions.

Event Coordination: Plan and manage the Partnership's participation in legislative briefings in Tallahassee or Washington, DC.

  1. Lead program planning in collaboration with the events team.
  2. Develop materials for legislative engagements.
  3. Organize schedules and appointments with key officials.

Support for Executive Leadership: Ensure the CEO is informed of potential issues and prepare them for public speaking engagements related to advocacy.

Management of Lobbying Efforts: Provide leadership and oversight for contracted lobbyists, ensuring effective execution of their responsibilities.
