POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Vice President of Purchasing plays a critical role in overseeing the procurement processes within the organization. This leadership position requires a strategic approach to sourcing and vendor management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the initiation of bidding processes with subcontractors, conducting thorough bid evaluations and ensuring accurate contract documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with various departments, including land development, construction, marketing, finance, and design, to meet internal objectives and timelines.
  • Investigate and resolve vendor-related disputes, pricing issues, and discrepancies in invoices or contracts.
  • Support the month-end financial close process by assisting in accruals for the current month.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with trade partners to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Communicate any product modifications to relevant teams, including Sales, Construction, and Subcontractors.
  • Assist in analyzing base costs and option pricing, ensuring accuracy in house budgets and margin calculations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Must have held a Vice President title for a minimum of two years.
  • At least seven years of experience as a Purchasing Agent in the construction sector, particularly in homebuilding, is essential.
  • Five years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other construction documentation is necessary.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with JD Edwards and Build Pro is advantageous.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills are a must.
