Department Overview

The PACCAR Embedded Engineering division is rapidly evolving, focusing on revolutionizing control systems and software development for commercial vehicles. Position Overview

We are looking for an Embedded Hardware Engineer to join our Embedded Engineering department, which supports our esteemed brands. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive attitude and a strong commitment to their work, taking charge of the design and integration of electrical and electronic components into heavy-duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of electrical and electronic systems throughout all phases of product development, from initial prototypes to production for autonomous commercial vehicles.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and other specialists to ensure high-quality electrical designs.
  • Address technical challenges across various domains and stages of product development, from research to warranty investigations.
  • Facilitate validation processes with suppliers and internal teams to maintain and exceed industry standards for quality and reliability.
  • Assist in new product launches at assembly facilities and troubleshoot field issues as they arise.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline (Computer Science/Electrical Engineering preferred) and/or Professional Engineer license is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and releasing electrical components for automotive or commercial vehicles, including software and electronic controls.
  • Proficient in engineering tools such as Pro-Engineer, Mentor Graphics, Matlab/Simulink, and Rhapsody.
  • Familiarity with SAE J1939, ISO 26262, and ISO 17987 LIN Protocol standards.
  • Understanding of heavy-duty commercial truck regulations impacting electrical design and functionality.
  • Experience managing suppliers through established processes.
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies, including FMEA and QFD.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with effective planning and tracking abilities.
  • Competence in standard business software applications.
  • Adaptability to learn and implement new processes and technologies to resolve complex technical challenges.
