The Engineering project team at Kenworth, based in Kirkland, WA, spearheads this initiative for the entire PACCAR organization.

Position Summary:

The Controls Systems Owner is responsible for overseeing the software development of various systems necessary for the integration of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Power unit into Kenworth's T680 truck.

This includes managing aspects such as torque arbitration, eFan control circuits, retarder strategy, diagnostics, and interface controllers.

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in design, testing, and validation, guiding the truck from a mature prototype to an international market launch.

Collaboration will be essential with stakeholders at both internal and external testing facilities, including DAF in the Netherlands and our fuel cell partners.

Our Hydrogen Fuel Cell class 8 truck aspires to be among the first volume zero-emission trucks available in North America. This role presents an opportunity to join a high-performing team at the forefront of transformative powertrain innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the controls systems efforts within the Fuel Cell EV truck engineering team. Coordinate with internal and external groups throughout the control strategy definition and documentation process. Advocate for Design for Six Sigma principles. Develop intricate control strategies utilizing software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and system testing methodologies. Leverage internal product development protocols to ensure superior quality outcomes, manage progress, and provide updates.

Oversee the implementation of product modifications by monitoring project timelines, budgets, and functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Support prototype assembly and product launch at our vehicle assembly facility. Collaborate closely with PACCAR divisions.

Engage as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside mechanical and electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other professionals to ensure optimal outcomes.

Manage multiple priorities and objectives concurrently. Travel may be required up to 10%. Primarily based at our Kirkland, WA divisional headquarters.
