Role Overview:

The Project Executive plays a pivotal role in securing construction projects and ensuring their successful execution as the principal leader. Success in this position is measured by the ability to win new business and maintain client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. This involves overseeing project schedules, budgets, and upholding the highest safety standards mandated by Clayco.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader currently serving as a Project Executive, Director, or Senior Project Manager within the construction sector. They should possess extensive experience with large-scale and intricate projects in industrial distribution, manufacturing, or food and beverage sectors. Experience collaborating with third-party real estate developers focused on these industries is essential. The candidate should be a mentor and an effective communicator, passionate about leading construction teams and nurturing future leaders within Clayco.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate a comprehensive Business Plan
  • Drive business development initiatives in the market
  • Lead the team in preparing RFQ/RFP/GMP submissions
  • Negotiate contracts with project owners
  • Oversee field staff during project setup and execution
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with safety, financial, schedule, and quality standards
  • Foster and maintain client relationships
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for project delivery
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract
  • Monitor project costs and job cost reports
  • Oversee labor projections and associated costs
  • Take a leading role in preconstruction services for bidding projects

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in construction management or operations
  • 8+ years of significant business experience in Distribution Center, Manufacturing, and/or Food and Beverage projects, with individual project values exceeding $40 million or managing multiple smaller projects concurrently (design-build experience preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction principles and practices
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a flexible approach to working with diverse individuals
  • Proficient in leading project teams, including managing subcontracts and subcontractors
  • Ability to cultivate a successful project team and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
  • Creative, results-driven, and possess a strong sense of urgency
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
