The Role

The Project Manager for EPC Utility-Scale Solar will take on a mid to senior-level project management role. The ideal candidate will be prepared to immediately engage in utility-scale Solar EPC projects ranging from 150MW to 350MW. You will oversee substantial EPC projects that include solar and renewable energy initiatives, with the potential to manage projects in other renewable sectors such as wind. In this position, you will have the chance to:

  • Lead the financial performance of major EPC Solar projects in the renewable energy sector
  • Manage the execution of projects that are highly visible within Black & Veatch

Please note: This position requires 25% to 50% travel to project and client locations. When not traveling, the role will be hybrid: 2 days remote and 3 days in-office at any Black & Veatch location in the Central US.

The Team

The Energy & Process division at Black & Veatch is dedicated to addressing clients' evolving infrastructure needs in generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of safe, reliable electric power. Key Responsibilities
  • Actively promote Black & Veatch's safety culture
  • Serve as the primary resource for executive management regarding overall project health
  • Oversee the planning, development, issuance, and progress tracking of all assigned projects from notice-to-proceed through commercial operation
  • Manage the schedule, budget, and scope of EPC projects
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to identify and resolve issues related to design, schedule, material deliveries, change management, safety, and quality
  • Address escalated problems or issues
  • Oversee the commercial recovery process and project close-out
  • Ensure the application of quality control procedures
Management Responsibilities

This role includes project management responsibilities, including leading a project team that may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience, including utility-scale solar EPC project management on the EPC execution side
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager with direct responsibility for the execution of engineering, procurement, and construction for EPC projects
  • Experience managing project teams in a union construction environment
  • Experience coordinating with local union halls
  • Experience as the single point-of-contact for at least 2 utility-scale solar EPC projects (150MW+) from inception to completion
  • Willingness to be on-site as needed for project success
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks and drug screening
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
  • Typical office and construction environments, including exposure to extreme weather, high noise levels, and safety hazards
