Overview:


The AOPA Digital Engagement Specialist will play a pivotal role in crafting and managing social media content designed to foster user interaction and build a dynamic relationship between our audience and AOPA.

The primary objective is to consistently showcase the excitement and passion that aviation brings to AOPA's community while enhancing membership through active engagement.


Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and execute AOPA's social media initiatives and daily community interactions.

  • Create, edit, and design engaging content across all active social media platforms.
  • Foster open dialogue with members and target audiences to enhance social media activity related to AOPA and the broader aviation community.
  • Monitor, listen, and respond promptly to social conversations.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to strategize and implement social media promotions.
  • Work alongside AOPA Safety to coordinate social media campaigns.
  • Proactively communicate insights, observations, and opportunities based on social media monitoring to the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with AOPA's Social Media guidelines across all organizational social media channels.
  • Integrate AOPA's media channels to create cohesive social media promotions that connect online and offline experiences.
  • Utilize social media management tools to schedule and organize relevant content.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of SEO principles, including keyword research, and the interplay between search and social media.
  • Stay informed about the various social media platforms, their users (Facebook, X, Yelp, Google Business, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), and their unique applications for AOPA and its partners.
  • Develop and implement a proactive strategy for capturing social content, including an interactive calendar for departmental communication on upcoming initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy.
  • Provide comprehensive monthly reports on social media campaigns and activities across all platforms.
  • Identify and report significant threats and opportunities in user-generated content related to AOPA's social channels and broader aviation trends online.
  • Assist in the development and execution of social media strategies and campaigns based on analytics and research.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, media, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in the general aviation sector is preferred, along with a passion for flying or being a student pilot/licensed pilot.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in account management, social media, or digital strategy. A strong understanding of major social media platforms and their application to achieve brand objectives and cultivate a vibrant social community.
  • Proficiency with social media analysis tools is required: Sprout, Wrike, etc.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an understanding of the relationship between strategy, content, and audience engagement.
  • Experience and skills in videography concepts within the social media context, or a strong willingness to learn.
