Overview:


The AOPA Digital Engagement Specialist will take charge of crafting and managing social media content aimed at fostering user interaction and building a dynamic relationship between our audience and AOPA.

The primary objective is to consistently showcase the excitement and passion that aviation brings to AOPA's community while enhancing membership through active engagement.


Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and execute AOPA's social media strategy and daily community interactions.

  • Create, edit, and design compelling content across all active social media platforms.
  • Engage with members and target demographics to facilitate open dialogue and increase social media engagement related to AOPA and the broader aviation community.
  • Monitor, listen, and respond to social discussions promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to strategize and implement social media campaigns.
  • Work alongside AOPA Safety to coordinate social media initiatives.
  • Proactively communicate insights, observations, and opportunities based on social media analysis to the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with AOPA's Social Media guidelines across all organizational social media channels.
  • Integrate AOPA's media outlets to create cohesive social media promotions that connect online and offline experiences.
  • Utilize social media management tools to organize and schedule relevant content effectively.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of SEO principles, including keyword research, and be well-versed in the interplay between search and social media.
  • Stay informed about various social media platforms, their audiences (Facebook, X, Yelp, Google Business, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), and how each can be effectively utilized for AOPA and its partners.
  • Develop and implement a proactive strategy for capturing social content, leading an interactive calendar across departments with regular updates on upcoming initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategies.
  • Provide monthly analytics reports on social media campaigns and posts across all platforms.
  • Identify and communicate significant threats and opportunities related to user-generated content surrounding AOPA's social channels and general aviation trends online.
  • Assist in the development and execution of social media strategies and campaigns informed by analytics and research.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, media, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in the general aviation sector is preferred, along with a passion for flying or current involvement as a student pilot/licensed pilot.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in account management, social media, or digital strategy, with a strong understanding of major social media platforms and their application to achieve brand objectives and cultivate a vibrant social community.
  • Proficiency with social media analytics tools is required: Sprout, Wrike,

Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Google Analytics, Salesforce, Hootsuite, etc.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen understanding of the relationship between strategy, content, and audience engagement.
  • Experience and skills in videography concepts within the social media context, or a strong willingness to learn.
