Position Overview:
Are you an innovative leader dedicated to community involvement and advocacy? Out On The Lakeshore (OOTL) is in search of a proactive Chief Executive Officer who will spearhead the planning and implementation of the upcoming strategic growth and development phase, with an emphasis on ongoing enhancement to meet organizational objectives.

Community Engagement:
The CEO will forge community connections that will influence the future of LGBTQ+ support in the Lakeshore and West Michigan regions.

Leadership Responsibilities:
The Chief Executive Officer will deliver strategic direction and manage community center operations, while coordinating and expanding fundraising efforts and grant acquisition.

They will foster partnerships with businesses, benefactors, and other non-profit organizations, as well as develop educational outreach initiatives in collaboration with local educational institutions, businesses, and governmental bodies.

Financial Oversight:
In partnership with the Board of Directors, the CEO will manage the budget and financial operations, oversee programmatic initiatives, and work to enhance community awareness.

Ideal Candidate:
The perfect candidate will possess experience in non-profit leadership, fundraising, community outreach, and financial management, and will be an effective communicator with a knack for relationship building. They should be a strategic planner who is knowledgeable about the history and challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversee center operations.
  • Develop and enhance fundraising initiatives and grant support.
  • Establish and maintain educational outreach with the Lakeshore and West Michigan community, businesses, government, and schools.
  • Engage actively with OOTL volunteers, board members, partner organizations, and donors.
  • Manage the OOTL budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee and implement programmatic initiatives.
  • Increase awareness of the organization within the community.

Organizational Culture and Communication:
Ensure that daily operations of the community center meet the needs of visitors and community members. Maintain accessibility and availability of the center to fulfill community requirements.

Supervise and support OOTL staff and contractors, while mentoring interns and volunteers to identify and nurture emerging talent.

Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to create a 3-year strategic plan with annual benchmarks for center growth and identify actionable steps for implementation.

Community Support and Advocacy:
Work with local school districts, colleges, businesses, and non-profit organizations to elevate the visibility of OOTL in the community.

Financial Management:
Develop a fundraising strategy in conjunction with the Development Committee, aimed at enhancing donor relations and establishing fundraising targets.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications include 3-5 years in program administration with managerial experience, 1-3 years in donor relations or fundraising, and a Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management or a related field. The candidate should demonstrate adaptable, innovative, and mission-driven leadership.
