About the Role

The Stow Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing direct materials and services to meet the company's operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a streamlined procurement process from RFQ to Receipt, focusing on solid communications between Stow employees and suppliers.
  • Evaluate potential new suppliers and negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business.
  • Purchase direct materials, components, or services in line with specified quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Ensure the best continuous supply of required goods and materials.
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs.
  • Place blanket purchase agreements, long-term contracts, tooling purchase orders, spot buys, etc.
  • Manage supplier capacity constraints to support S&OP rough cut capacity inputs.
  • Develop and manage a highly dynamic supply base that complements Stow's goals and objectives.
  • Deliver and update reports as required (Variance analysis, Budget forecasts, KPI updates, Supplier Scorecards, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the supply base.
  • Support vendor material planners when necessary to resolve routine issues.
  • Participate in the implementation of engineering changes and new model introductions, leading procurement activities.
  • Assist in ERP implementation as it relates to procurement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Operations with a minimum of 7 years in procurement, supply chain, and/or operations experience.
  • Experience with metals and wood commodities is desirable.
  • APICS training/advanced certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of corporate purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Negotiating principles/skills.
  • Familiarity with commercial terms and total cost management concepts.
  • Analytical numerical wise with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of lean concepts.
  • Experience in rough cut capacity planning.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding and employment of change management methodology.
  • Ability to lead conversations with suppliers in a proactive, productive manner.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals both internally and externally to The Stow Company.
  • Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in an office and a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to take the initiative and work well independently with little supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required, Sharepoint and Teams preferred.
  • Advanced experience in ERP systems, preferably Manage2000 or SAP.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Sitting at a workstation approximately 75 percent of work time.
  • Standing and walking approximately 25 percent of work time.
  • Ability to travel between plant and office locations.
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
  • Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
  • Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts.
