Position Overview:

Are you an innovative leader with a commitment to community involvement and advocacy? Out On The Lakeshore (OOTL) is in search of a proactive Chief Executive Officer who can spearhead the planning and implementation of the upcoming strategic growth and development phase, concentrating on ongoing enhancement to fulfill organizational objectives. This role involves fostering community partnerships that will continue to influence the future of LGBTQ+ support in the Lakeshore and West Michigan regions.

Key Responsibilities:

The Chief Executive Officer will provide visionary leadership and manage community center operations, while also coordinating and expanding fundraising efforts and grant acquisition. They will nurture relationships with businesses, donors, and other non-profit organizations, and develop educational outreach initiatives in collaboration with local educational institutions, businesses, and governmental bodies. In partnership with the Board of Directors, the CEO will manage financial activities and oversee programmatic initiatives to enhance community awareness.

Essential Functions:

The Chief Executive Officer will:

  • Oversee daily operations of the community center, ensuring that visitors and community members receive necessary services.
  • Supervise and support OOTL staff and contractors, mentoring interns and volunteers to cultivate emerging talent.
  • Manage communication channels related to fundraising, educational programs, grant administration, and community engagement.
  • Represent OOTL at community events and in media, aligning with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Develop a three-year strategic plan with the Board of Directors, establishing annual benchmarks for growth.
  • Enhance marketing strategies and oversee content creation and scheduling.
  • Work with local schools, businesses, and the faith community to increase OOTL's visibility.
  • Coordinate monthly Pride programming and collaborate with the Pride Coordinator on various initiatives.
  • Create a fundraising strategy with the Development Committee to enhance donor relations and set fundraising goals.
  • Manage the OOTL budget, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in program administration with managerial responsibilities.
  • 1-3 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or grant writing.
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mission-driven organizations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in nonprofit management or a related field.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and media training.
  • Familiarity with software such as Salesforce, Bloomerang, and Google Suite.

Work Environment:
