Position Overview:
As a vital member of the Lakeshore Home Builders Association, the Construction Project Leader plays a crucial role in overseeing the construction site operations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and safely.

This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the community by contributing to affordable housing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Arrive early to prepare the site and engage with volunteers.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Construction Director to outline daily tasks and ensure necessary materials and tools are available.
  • Provide orientation to volunteers, explaining their roles and emphasizing safety protocols.
  • Facilitate a welcoming environment by introducing the organization and the day's objectives.
  • Organize volunteer crews based on their skills and interests.
  • Supervise tasks, offering assistance where specialized skills are needed.
  • Ensure tools are returned, the site is cleaned, and security measures are in place before volunteers leave.
  • Be present throughout the work shift, providing guidance and training to ensure volunteers complete their tasks successfully.
  • Foster a positive experience for volunteers to encourage their return and support for the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures established by the Lakeshore Home Builders Association.
Qualifications:

Required:
- Positive and encouraging demeanor.
- Ability to teach fundamental construction skills.
- Strong commitment to the mission of the organization.
- Experience in first aid and construction safety.
- Michigan Residential Builders license or willingness to obtain.

Preferred:
- 3-5 years of construction experience.
- Background in leadership or instructional roles.
- Basic conversational Spanish skills are a plus.

Employment Terms:

This is a full-time hourly position with compensation determined by the Executive Director and Construction Director. The Construction Project Leader is classified as an at-will, non-exempt employee.
