Position Overview

Bloomsbury Children's Books is on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate intern to support our publicity efforts during the fall term. Our organization is renowned for publishing bestselling and critically acclaimed authors across various genres, including picture books, middle grade, and young adult literature.

Role Summary

We are seeking an organized, creative, and book-loving individual to contribute to our Publicity team as a Publicity Intern. This role involves a commitment of 2-3 days per week, where you will engage with a diverse range of fiction and non-fiction titles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist publicists in crafting press materials and pitch letters.
  • Conduct research on media contacts, reviewers, book influencers, and other key figures in the publishing industry.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with internal teams and external media contacts.
  • Collaborate with publicists on the distribution of review copies and track media coverage.
  • Support office operations, including book ordering and maintaining publicity databases.
  • Manage online publicity efforts, including maintaining reviewer lists and handling NetGalley requests.
  • Monitor the Publicity inbox for incoming communications.
  • Engage in additional publicity projects as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

  • A genuine love for books.
  • A desire to pursue a full-time career in publishing.
  • A strong interest in learning about publicity and the publishing landscape.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Currently pursuing a 4-year degree or equivalent, with preference for seniors or professionals transitioning into the industry.

Commitment

This internship requires a commitment of 2-3 days per week, with a schedule to be coordinated with your supervisor.

Compensation

The position offers a pay rate of $18.00 per hour and is eligible for college credit.
