Children's Literature Publicity Trainee

Bloomsbury Children's Books is on the lookout for a dedicated publicity intern for the upcoming term. This role is essential for supporting our acclaimed titles in the children's literature sector, which includes bestselling authors in picture books, middle grade, and young adult genres.
Position Summary
We are searching for an enthusiastic, organized, and creative individual who has a passion for literature to become part of our Publicity team. The intern will contribute 2-3 days a week, collaborating with the Children's Publicity Department on a diverse range of both fiction and non-fiction publications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist publicists in crafting press materials and pitch letters.
- Conduct research on media contacts, reviewers, book influencers, and other industry professionals.
- Prepare for and participate in meetings with internal teams and external media contacts.
- Support publicists with review copy mailings and monitor publicity coverage.
- Maintain office operations, including book orders and publicity database management.
- Oversee online publicity efforts, including managing reviewer lists and handling NetGalley requests.
- Monitor the Publicity inbox for incoming communications.
- Engage in additional publicity projects as opportunities arise.
Qualifications
- A genuine love for books.
- A desire to pursue a full-time career in publishing.
- A strong interest in learning about publicity and the publishing industry.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Currently pursuing a 4-year degree or equivalent, with preference for seniors or professionals transitioning into the industry.
Commitment
This position requires a commitment of 2-3 days per week, with a schedule to be coordinated with your supervisor throughout the internship duration.
This role offers a compensation of $18.00 per hour and is eligible for college credit.
