Job Title: After School Support Teacher

Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Support Teacher to join our team.

Job Summary:

The After School Support Teacher will be responsible for providing support to students in our aftercare program, REEF. This includes facilitating daily activities, monitoring student behavior, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a positive and engaging experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assist in the coordination of before and aftercare programs for assigned classrooms.
  • Proactively support the success of daily activities planned by Lead Teachers.
  • Lead classroom activities several times per week.
  • Monitor student behavior for growth, progress, and opportunities to reward.
  • Help students get the most out of each planned activity through positivity and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to help engage and educate students.
  • Facilitate and lead activities created by lead teachers in their absence.
  • Anticipate the needs of teachers and students to ensure activities run smoothly.
  • Supervise and ensure students' safety during aftercare activities on campus and on field trips.
  • Ensure students are fully engaged in REEF classes each period.
  • Help supervise transition periods between classes and group play.
  • Support Lead Teachers in ensuring all areas used during REEF programs are clean and materials are put away.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Warm and friendly personality; ability to relate well to children and staff.
  • Experience and knowledge with before-and-aftercare program administration is a plus.
  • Basic technology skills, e.g. Google Suite, especially GMail.
  • Self-starter with sound time management skills, ability to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills and strong motivational skills.

Working Environment:

In-school. The role is based on-site and will grow to include another campus, which will result in interaction with students, parents and staff.
