Responsibilities:


- Formulates a staffing schedule tailored to skill mix and unit requirements; conducts staffing evaluations and implements necessary adjustments.
- Aids the Nurse Manager in executing annual performance assessments; reviews departmental policies and procedures annually to ensure adherence to current regulations.
- Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Unit Educator to create and implement educational initiatives and maintain staff competencies for ongoing professional development.
- Executes payroll tasks as directed; utilizes a personal computer to navigate the Hospital Information System.
- Assists the Nurse Manager in establishing unit goals and objectives while implementing care standards and practices.
- Keeps the Nurse Manager informed of clinical, managerial, and personnel matters affecting patient care that necessitate intervention.
- Contributes to the development and execution of the unit's Quality Assurance Program.
- Supports staff in ensuring continuity of care, patient education, and discharge planning by acting as a liaison among patients, families, physicians, and social workers.
- Maintains clinical proficiency and steps in as a staff nurse when necessary; serves as a clinical role model and resource for staff in challenging patient care scenarios.
- Aids the manager in rolling out new services or programs; communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team both in person and via telephone.
- Ensures accurate and comprehensive record-keeping; maintains Quality Management and Variance reports.
- Responds promptly to digital, voice, and overhead communications; fulfills all duties positively and collaboratively, enhancing unit performance.
- Completes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements; employs cost-effective practices in all job aspects.
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; participates in assigned committees and Performance Improvement activities.
- Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance; capable of working defined schedules and additional hours as necessary; performs related duties as required.


Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and possession of a current Alabama RN license or a valid Multi-State RN License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama.

Note:
USA Health adheres to the NLC requirements and guidelines for the state of Alabama. A minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in the relevant clinical area is required.
