Responsibilities:


Inpatient Wound Management - This role focuses on delivering specialized wound care for patients experiencing burns, chronic conditions, surgical interventions, and acute injuries.

Practices patient-centered nursing in accordance with established policies and the Nurse Practice Act; assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities when designated; oversees, plans, evaluates, and coordinates patient care delivered by both licensed and unlicensed personnel; demonstrates CPR proficiency in line with American Heart Association standards; adheres to and enforces compliance regulations and policies, executing responsibilities ethically in alignment with the organization's core values; maintains confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies; serves as a mentor for new staff and nursing students; employs the nursing process to: assess patients; develop individualized care plans; identify anticipated outcomes; implement and evaluate nursing interventions for patients and their families; performs therapeutic and assists with diagnostic procedures essential for patient care; administers medications, including controlled substances, via all routes; administers blood and blood products; responds effectively to emergency situations; performs basic life support and manages critical incidents; initiates IV therapy; assists with daily living activities; articulates the purpose, rationale, precautions, and observations associated with skilled procedures; utilizes proper body mechanics for patient mobility, positioning, and transfers, ensuring safety; manages necessary equipment for essential functions; provides patient education by planning, coordinating, and delegating educational needs; utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Clinical Information System; communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare teams both in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; completes documentation within unit timeframes; maintains patient care records; transcribes physician orders; fulfills all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements; employs cost-effective practices in all job aspects; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; demonstrates the ability to provide competent care to diverse patient populations: Neonate, Infant-Toddler/Preschool, School Age/Adolescent, Reproductive Age, Post/Peri Menopausal; manages and cares for all types of Central Venous Lines, including PICC/Midlines; participates as a member of the PICC Line Team; provides on-call support to the unit when the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team is dispatched; maintains up-to-date knowledge of unit policies, procedures, equipment locations, and supplies; ensures accurate documentation of charge stickers and procedure charges; completes PALS and ACLS certifications within the designated timeframe; maintains PALS and ACLS certification status; administers and monitors conscious sedation; organizes and directs activities to effectively utilize resources, personnel, and materials to meet patient and nursing staff needs; communicates regularly with the Nurse Manager and Nurse Administrator regarding unit status, patient-related issues, Quality Management concerns, and evolving events; acts as the first point of contact for problem resolution with other departments and addresses complaints; assists with shift duty assignments; verifies functionality of emergency equipment; ensures completion of narcotic and stock drug counts by the end of the shift; completes acuity sheets and charge nurse checkout sheets; maintains knowledge of all PICU Critical Care Transport policies and procedures; ensures competency in all advanced nursing and transport procedures and skills; utilizes appropriate communication skills with referring hospital personnel and transport team members throughout the transport process; participates in assigned committees; engages in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; demonstrates regular and prompt attendance; possesses the ability to work as scheduled and fulfill overtime requirements; performs related duties as necessary.


Qualifications:
Current Alabama RN license or current Multi-State RN License in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama
