Position Summary

As a Senior Thermal Systems Engineer specializing in Large Military Systems Technology Integration, you will play a crucial role in the thermal assessment of hardware and the oversight of Secondary Air Systems (SAS) within large combat aircraft engines.

Your responsibilities will include managing individual projects, collaborating with team members to define tasks, technical deliverables, milestones, and associated costs.

You will also lead and mentor junior engineers, coordinate efforts within engineering design teams, and work closely with interdisciplinary engineering organizations to ensure timely project completion.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and analysis of turbo machinery at the systems level, focusing on heat transfer, cooling design, modeling, and analysis for all Large Combat engines.
  • Independently execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects while adhering to engineering principles and business standards.
  • Develop and implement sustainable plans to meet technical and program requirements, schedules, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor project status and communicate significant developments to cross-functional team leads and management.
  • Anticipate and address thermal system design challenges to meet both internal and external customer requirements.
  • Prepare and present accurate technical data to stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members involved in assigned projects.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects while ensuring compliance with cost, quality, and schedule requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on heat transfer.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • In-depth knowledge of Gas Turbine Thermal Systems, including module/component design, tools, analysis, and processes.
  • Strong foundation in Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics/Dynamics principles related to turbomachinery thermal design.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a structured, cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Highly motivated with sound engineering judgment.
